About: The City of Needles contracts with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement services. Needles is one of the oldest communities on the Colorado River and is approximately 32 square miles. Route 66 runs right through the town of Needles. The city has a year-round population of 4,800 but several thousands of visitors come to the area each year. Some of the services the Needles station provides include Narcotics, SWAT, Arson-Bomb, Crimes Against Children, Homicide, Crime Lab, Aviation and Volunteer Forces. They also have a Marine Enforcement Unit that patrols the Colorado River.
